Letters
10/20/2009
Dear Marlen,
When I scheduled this class and received your first email I was a little worried about how it was going to turn out. Then I followed the link you provided for ratemyprofessor.com, and was surprised when I had seen what other students had written. It was interesting to see that there was a class that did more for the student then just a letter on a “piece of paper.” Skeptical, I decided that I wanted to stay enrolled in your class and see if this information was true or not. I feel that I was not misled, and was glad I decided to stay.
As of now, my understanding of where I’ve been and where I believe I’m going has a little more meaning to me. This class has opened my eyes to the larger meaning behind what I do, and I am thankful for that. I’m very interested to see what I gather from the remainder of the semester. It should be entertaining.
I believe you are the first instructor I’ve met who actually cares, not about just the work being completed, but what the work means to the student. That’s a very good trait I wish all instructors shared, we would all probably be better off, and most likely graduate on time. The time and effort you put into this class should be returned in kind. Because of this I actually feel that I have let you down during this first half of the semester, but I plan on seeing this class through to the end, and trying my best to gain the most from this class.
I do want to thank you for your time thus far, and appreciate your patience with a lot of book weary students. I look forward to being in your class for the rest of this semester, and disappointed to see you go. I guess we all have to take our journeys when the call comes; at least that’s what I was told.
Sincerely,
Mark Parker

Thanks, Mark. I just worry about your absences, as I can feel them adding up, personally. I sometimes look for you in the middle of the room and am sad to think, “Where’s Mark?”
Let’s hit it out of the ballpark for the remainder of the semester, ok? Cause when you’re present, you’re dead on!!!
